Principal Accountabilities & Responsibilities
- Oversee day‑to‑day shelter operations; ensure adherence to all policies and procedures.
- Participate in interviewing, hiring, induction, and onboarding of shelter staff and new intakes.
- Support program staff through meetings, direct observation, and written evaluations.
- Serve as matron and mother figure to the children; provide first aid and basic counselling while maintaining confidentiality.
- Maintain and update case files, daily logs, progress notes, and incident reports for all residents.
- Draft and manage annual and monthly budgets for shelter supplies and programs, optimizing cost efficiency.
- Collaborate with management to set and track annual goals and objectives for the shelter.
- Coordinate interface with family members, law courts, and regulatory agencies; represent children’s interests as needed.

Financials
- Provide monthly and weekly budget inputs; manage assigned budget with cost‑saving focus.
- Assist with contract negotiations and evaluation of licenses and vendor agreements.

- High quality of care delivered to children in the shelter.

Job Specifications

- Experience: Minimum 7 years in social services or childcare; teaching background an advantage.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) for budgeting, reporting, and presentations.
