Wings Academy Football Program Takes Flight: Empowering Tomorrow’s Champions

The Pistis Foundation and the Asumah Brothers kicked off the Wings Academy Football Program in Lagos with a clear mission: to empower fifty children through sport, teamwork, and confidence building under the banner “Building Dreams, One Goal at a Time.” From high‑energy drills and one‑on‑one coaching at our June 21 training session, to the exhilarating Novelty Match on June 28 where the Jakande boys clinched the trophy and the Kids‑Off‑The‑Street Shelter girls demonstrated outstanding teamwork in their gold‑medal victory, this program shows how grassroots sport can ignite confidence, foster community spirit, and uncover hidden talent.

This commitment to talent discovery is not new to the Pistis Foundation. Last year’s Sports and Innovation Project, also in partnership with the Asumah Brothers and key community stakeholders, identified promising players such as Bolu. He went on to compete in the GreenField Football Academy competition, where his standout performance earned him Best Player honours and a full GreenField Scholarship. Bolu’s journey from a local pitch to academy standout highlights the mission of Wings Academy: to create real opportunities through football and transform raw potential into life‑changing pathways.

As we look ahead to the grand championship on July 26, our focus extends beyond goals scored. We aim to equip every participant with the life skills they need for success both on and off the field. In partnership with the Asumah Brothers, the Wings Academy Football Program is not just teaching the game, it is building future leaders, sparking dreams, and proving that with the right support, every young athlete can soar.
